    So lovely to slip back into another era, a time forgotten (thank goodness ) but still remarkably witty and a little frivolous. I spent a delightful afternoon reading a well written if not dated account of coincidence and subterfuge, with all loose ends tied up beautifully.

    Funny and witty book, but perhaps a little dated these days. Proposals of marriage between people who had barely met each other, which were immediately accepted, came across as a bit simplistic. Fun little twist with the name Earnest, but the end was easy to predict. I would say read and make your own opinion because many people clearly love this book, but its not going to be one of my all time favourites.

    One of the funniest, cleverest and greatest things I have ever read. Mind you I'm only 16 but this was outstanding. Could have been longer but that just shows that I wanted it to last longer.

    Has to be one of the greatest lines ever! Never fails to amuse me :) Wonderfully absurd and typically Wilde, this witty little farce has been one of my all time favourites since my first introduction, and I would urge anyone who has yet to read it to do so asap!
