    Being a biker myself and having watched the docudrama “closer to the edge” several times I was really looking forward to reading this book. To be honest I found it hard going and it didn’t grab me like other autobiographical books I have read

    Not normally into autobiographies but Guy is amazing. Love this so much I've just completed it for the fourth time and gone onto his next book. One thing I'm confused by; Why have I received an update? What has changed? Do I need to start it again?

    Until I read this book I was a fan of Guy Martin. But TV does a lot of clever editing. "Speed" was good and "Closer to the edge" also but Guys ghost writer does a terrible job of writing and pretending to be him. The timeline is very difficult to follow and I found that half the time I'd be getting into the rhythm of whatever I was reading then it'd jump back or forward randomly and interest was lost or forgotten quickly. Perhaps the most annoying thing is that between Guy and the person writing for him they genuinely must have created and printed over a thousand ways to say, "I don't care what people think or how it turns out, I'm a truck mechanic and will just do that". Should've stuck to it mate.

    Excellent book. Really in depth look into how Guy progressed his different careers and not just for motorcycle fans. I don't read a lot of books as I prefer audiobooks, but this was one I kept picking up and reading. Well worth it and definitely worth a read.

    Pulls no punches and does what it says on the tin. Huge respect for Guy telling his story, warts and all. I enjoy biographies because you can relate to most people in most situations. With Guy, we relate to his real world, his fantasy world and the TV world most folks know is proper unreal. See what I did there Guy, 'proper'. Ive enjoyed this book more than most because Guys story isn't finished, not by a long way. Love, life, graft, race, play, frolicking, this story has it all and it's totally believable. No fancy airs or graces, we get the detail of some of the things you think you may know. I really can't wait for the next chapter in Guys world. Proper.

    Superb book from a genuine down to earth guy that knows where he's come from and wont be pushed into going where he doesn't want to go! Inspiring read, just goes to prove that a lot of hard work pays off! A real hero and person for kids to look up to! Not like all these morons of reality Tv that want to be "famous" fast! Deffo recommend this book if your a tradesman!!

    I don't usually rate or review things, but this is DEFINITELY getting a 10/10 from me! Don't be fooled into thinking this is a book on motorcycle racing... This is the life story of one of the most down to earth characters on the face of this earth! A pleasure to read, extremely entertaining!!! Especially when read in his accent haha
